Facing a First Degree Felony in Freehold NJ?
Instead of using the phrases “felony” and “misdemeanor,” the New Jersey criminal code uses the phrases “indictable offenses” and “disorderly persons offenses.” With that being said, an indictable offenses is considered a felony offense for all intents and purposes. Felony offenses are broken down into four different degrees: first degree; second degree; third degree and a fourth degree. A first degree felony is the most severe level of crime in New Jersey. As you will see below, if convicted of a first degree felony, a Defendant would be facing anywhere from ten to twenty years in State Prison. As you can see, the penalties can be life-changing. If you or a loved one has been arrested and charged with a first degree indictable crime in Monmouth County, we strongly recommend that you speak to a knowledgeable criminal defense attorney as soon as possible.
