Bound Brook Man Charged with DWI in Bridgewater Township
According to the Patch.com, a fifty-six year old male from Bound Brook was arrested on April 18th in Bridgewater Township and charged with among other things, driving while intoxicated. The charges stem from what an incident that took place in Commons Way. It is alleged that the Defendant was involved in a single car motor vehicle accident, however, instead of remaining at the scene and reporting the accident, he fled the scene. The Bridgewater Police were able to quickly locate the Defendant and take him into custody. Based on the officers observations, the Defendant was asked to submit a breath sample so that it could be determined whether he was under the influence. However, the Defendant refused to give a sample and as a result was charged with the following offenses:
- Driving While Intoxicated;
- Refusal To Submit a Breath Sample;
- Leaving the Scene of an Accident;
- Failure to Maintain Lane;
- Unlicensed Driver;
- Failure to Report an Accident;
- Failure to Wear a Seatbelt.
Charged with DUI in Bridgewater NJ?
The Defendant was processed and released upon a summons to a sober driver, which is required pursuant to John’s Law. The Defendant will be forced to appear in the Bridgewater Municipal Court, which is located 100 Commons Way, to answer the charges. Even if this was the Defendant’s first DWI, he will be facing the following potential license suspensions:
- 3 Month Loss of License on the DWI;
- 7 – 12 Month Loss of License on the Refusal to Submit a Breath Sample;
- 6 – 12 Month Loss of License on the Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
