NJSA 2C:11a has defined bodily injury as any injury that cause “physical pain, illness or any impairment of physical condition. This is the lowest level of “injury” under the New Jersey criminal code”.
NJSA 2C:11b has defined serious bodily injury as any injury that “creates a substantial risk of death or which causes serious, permanent disfigurement, or protracted loss or impairment of the function of any bodily member or organ”.
